Sample Itinerary

| Day 01 |
Leave for Besham by road via Karakoram Highway (the old Silk Route) 5-6
hrs drive) Enroute visit Taxila Museum (1 hr drive upto Taxila). The modern
town of Taxila is 35 km from Islamabad. Most of the archaeological sites
of Taxila (600 B.C -500 A.D) are located around Taxila Museum. For over
1000 years Taxila remained famous as a centre of learning Gandhara art
of sculpture, architecture, education and Buddhism in the days of Buddhist
glory. There are about 50 archaeological sites scattered in a radius of
30 km around Taxila. Some of the most important sites include Dharamarajika
Stupa and Monastery 300 B.C- 200 A.D), Bhir Mound (600 200 B.C), Sirkap
(200 B.C - 600 A.D), and Jaullian Monastery (200 - 600 A.D). Overnight
stay in Besham.

| Day 02 |
Departure for Gilgit (8-hrs drive) Enroute Hunza valley after lunch (3-hrs
drive). Overnight stay in Gilgit.

| Day 03 |
Morning: Sightseeing of Gilgit, leave for Hunza valley after Lunch (3-hrs
drive). Overnight stay in Karimabad/Aliabad.
|
| Day 04 |
Morning: Visit Altit and Baltit Forts (600 years old). After lunch leave
for Sust village which is the last checkpost before entering into China.
Overnight stay in Sust.

| Day 05 |
Leave for Tasghurgan via Khunjerab Pass (16.00 ft) - the first small town
on China side. Afternoon visit the old fort (2000 yrs old). Overnight stay
in hotel at Tashghurgan.

| Day 06 |
Leave for Urumqi by air. Transfer to Hotel in Urumqi. Afternoon city tour
of Urumqi. Overnight stay in hotel at Urumqi.
|
| Day 07 |
Morning visit pasturelands. After lunch visit carpet factory, museum and
exhibition hall. Overnight stay in hotel at Urumqi.

| Day 08 |
Day excursion to Heavenly Lake. Overnight stay in Hotel at Urumqi.
|
| Day 09 |
Morning: Departure for Turfan by road. Check in hotel in Turfan. Afternoon,
visit the ancient Yarlut City and Sand Dunes. Overnight stay in hotel at
Turfan.

| Day 10 |
Morning: Visit Buddhist Caves and the Flaming Mountain. Lunch. Afternoon
visit to the ancient Yarlut City and Sand Dunes. Overnight stay in hotel
at Turfan.
|
| Day 11 |
Morning: Leave for Urumqi, Afternoon free for shopping etc.
|
| Day 12 |
Fly back to Islamabad.
