Sample Itinerary
Day 01

Barpu is one of the least visited areas by foreign visitors, as the trek was closed due to the construction of the Karakoram Highway. Leave Rawalpindi for Besham via the famous Karakoram Highway, a 6 to 8 hours drive. Overnight stay in PTDC Motel in Besham.

Day 02

Leave for Gilgit (8 to 10 hours drive) via KKH along the Indus River, enjoying the scenery of Kohistan valley. Reach Gilgit and overnight stay in PTDC Motel Chinar Inn.

Day 03

Drive to Nagar Village, 75 miles from Gilgit, through the well-known Hunza valley, along the Hunza river. The view of Rakaposhi on the way to Nagar is just incredible. The base camp of Rakaposhi (25,550 ft) is just 6 to 8 hours walk from the road. The approach from the visible north face of Rakapohsi is one of the most difficult routes for mountaineers. It is one of the most beautiful peaks of the Karakorams. After a 3 hours drive, we reach the village Nagar, the capital of the former state of Nagar. We have special permission from the Mir of Nagar to camp at the beautiful gardens just outside his palace.

Day 04

Sightseeing, arrangements for porters and purchases etc. in Nagar.

Day 05

On the first trekking day, an easy walk through the apricot gardens, meeting the innocent villagers of Nagar Valley and enjoying the scenery of Rakaposhi chain. We will reach our campsite at Shishken on the other side of Kapel glacier after 4 to 5 hours.

Day 06 - 07

We will start a hard ascent towards the Rush Lake for the most beautiful campsite of the trek. The lake is at an altitude of 15,000 ft. with crystal clear water, lush green slopes full of wild flowers and surrounded by peaks as high as 17,000 ft. (Mullobitting, Golden Peak and Miar Peak), below the camp, Barpu glacier winds down towards Nagar valley like a highway.

Day 08

In the afternoon we will begin descent into Barpu valley and camp, alongside the Barpu glacier at Chokotans with small streams, springs and lot of juniper trees.

Day 09

Trekking along the Barpu glacier for 2 to 3 hours, we will reach our last campsite Girdindil, known for its wild life besides its lovely surroundings. There is a peak about 17,000ft and easy to climb. If the trekkers wish, they may climb this peak making campsite as their base.

Day 10 - 12

On the 10th day we will start our journey to reach back to Nagar by camping along the Barpu glacier. Jeeps would be waiting for us to take us back to Gilgit.

Day 13

Early morning departure for Rawalpindi by minibus via KKH. Arrival in Rawalpindi at night.
